Tricia’s landscape paintings of places she’s visited throughout the United States are done in Encaustic on cradled panel. This is a medium combining Natural Bees Wax, Damar Resin and pigments and was originally invented by the ancient Greeks in 4th century BC. All work is done using a heated palette set to 180 degrees to keep the medium melted. A heat gun or torch is used to set the medium between layers. The Bees Wax is sustainably collected and processed at Black Birch Farm Apiaries in Essex County, Massachusetts. Damar Resin is from trees in South-East Asia and is used to harden the bees wax and raise its melting point.
