MINATURE PAINTINGS:
Tricia’s miniatures are works of Art restricted to sizes less than 25 sq inches and are done in a variety of mediums including encaustic and pastel. The Association of Miniature Artists (AMA) considers "miniature" as minute in scale vs. life sized, small in format and size restricted to sizes less than 25 sq inches, are a delicate and painstaking technique that withstands magnification, and are high in quality and exemplify Fine Art with a mastery of composition, color, and values.
ARTIST’S BOOKS:
An artist’s book as defined by the Smithsonian as “a medium of artistic expression that uses the structure or function of “book” as inspiration—a work of art in book form.” It’s a multi-medium piece of art often constructed of paper both sourced and handmade and regular book structures such as signatures, bindings, hardboard covers etc. The wonderful part is blurring the line between a book and art where the piece is now a three-dimensional assemblage versus a book of pages and words. Many of my Artist’s books are in miniature/small format but others are made from altered books and book. Another term used for an Artist’s Book is a Sculptural Book.
